Frequently Asked Questions

WHY IS THE MARINA NAMED PORT OF EGYPT?

The name Port of Egypt honors a reference to the sizable sandbar south of the marina.  According to local lore, a schoolteacher in the early 1900s inspired students to think about faraway places when he said the sandbar resembled a desert. That teacher was the father of one of the property's former owners, and his son called the business Port of Egypt. The Lieblein brothers decided to reinstate that moniker in 1946 when they took over what had become Captain Reiter’s Fishing Station.

WHAT HOURS ARE YOUR FUEL DOCKS OPEN?

The fuel docks (gas and diesel) are open from 5:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.  They can be self-serve if you use a credit card.  Cash may only be used during regular business hours.

DO YOU MONITOR THE RADIO?

We do not monitor the radio at this time.  Please call us at 631-765- 2445.

HOW DEEP IS THE WATER IN THE MARINA BASIN?

At low tide, the depth is about 5 feet.

DO YOU RENT BOATS?

We do not rent boats at this time. Please ask us about our new Captain on Call offerings, a great way to spend time on the water.

WHERE DO I DOCK IF I'M GOING TO THE RESTAURANT?

A Lure has designated docking slips in our East Canal.  Look for the sign just past the original POE Fishing Station.  If you are docking here to visit an attraction not on our property, please pull into our fuel dock and come to the office. We will direct you to an empty slip and tell you what fees apply. Additional fees apply for extended stays.
