WHY IS THE MARINA NAMED PORT OF EGYPT?
The name Port of Egypt honors a reference to the sizable sandbar south of the marina. According to local lore, a schoolteacher in the early 1900s inspired students to think about faraway places when he said the sandbar resembled a desert. That teacher was the father of one of the property's former owners, and his son called the business Port of Egypt. The Lieblein brothers decided to reinstate that moniker in 1946 when they took over what had become Captain Reiter’s Fishing Station.

A Lure has designated docking slips in our East Canal. Look for the sign just past the original POE Fishing Station. Additional fees apply for extended stays.
