This cruise will mark the return of the Port of Egypt Pirates, our Grady White Owners’ Club! Whether you’re an experienced cruiser or a first-timer, you’ll have fun on this trip.Even if you feel it’s a stretch, do yourself a favor and come along. We have had boats as small as 22’ make the journey and will make sure that you get there and back.
We will meet outside the POE channel in Southold Bay. Once everyone is gathered, the POE boat will lead the way to Block with Captain Will Lieblein at the helm. All you have to do is follow the leader!
When we arrive, the staff at Champlin’s Hotel, Marina and Resort will help us all get settled in together. Then, it’s time to explore! The village is a bit of a hike, but it is doable. You can also take a cab or rent a moped. Or maybe you just want to relax on your boat or at the pool. There are no group plans for Friday evening so enjoy your do-as-you-please dinner and getting into a Block Island state of mind!
On Saturday, stay at Champlin’s or explore the island. (Captain Will’s favorite spot is the mud pit, ask him about it!). You may want to hit the beach, go horseback riding, shop or fish. (It’s awesome to add some fresh fish to the mix at mealtime!)
There will be a group barbecue Saturday night. We’ll supply charcoal, barbecue tools, burgers, dogs and something a little special. Please bring whatever you would like to add to the potluck. Captain Will is happy to cook whatever you throw at him!
Sunday will be very mellow. You can either leave after lunch with Captain Will (around 1 p.m.) to follow the leader back to POE or head back any time if you feel comfortable making the trip on your own.
We recommend that you make reservations as soon as you give us your RSVP since Champlin’s Marina is a very busy place in August. You will need to make a 2-night reservation and say that you are with the Port of Egypt group. (See detailed instructions below.)
A little planning goes a long way! We will share everything you need to get ready for the Block Island Cruise at our July 28 Poolside Social. Pick up a list of what you should bring, discuss logistics and plan the potluck dinner with us so we don’t duplicate efforts.
Captain Will looks forward to answering any questions you may have. See him at the marina, call 631-765-2445 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
